This might be a stupid question, but I'm perfectly happy with the width of my chest right now and am wondering if its possible to work out without widening my chest. I've seen a lot of weightlifters look extremely squat. Is it because they use supplements or is it possible to get that look by working out naturally?

What are your goals? – user3085 May 20 '12 at 2:13
Don't do huge amounts of chest exercises. But weightlifters, besides often using PEDs, trains specifically for size--so don't train for size. – Dave Newton May 24 '12 at 21:02

The question is too vague in its current form. Are you looking to do barbell exercises? Are you more interested in conditioning? How is your posture? Core strength? Are there any injuries you have to train around? General age range (affects ability to recover, teens/20s/30s/40s/50s/60+)? Goals? Things you don't want to do? – Berin Loritsch May 25 '12 at 16:36

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

You need to follow a Football (Soccer) players workout...you will notice almost all football players have great bodies but they chests remain the same size just with definition.

First off: what would these workouts consist off? They probably do a wide-variety of workouts which won't all contribute to wide shoulders. Second: waterpolo players or rugby players are probably even wider, so why would you prefer football? And lastly, your answer doesn't provide any substantiation for why these exercises would work, so -1 for me – Ivo Flipse May 25 '12 at 7:23

This is actually not such a bad answer. Football players do a lot of core strength, stabilization and endurance training. It makes you really strong but doesn't pump up the muscles. +1 for me – artistoex May 25 '12 at 13:02
@IvoFlipse Firstly, he does not need, nor did he ask for, a training regime - his question was general, he is quite capable of researching Footballers workouts. Secondly, if you actually read the question and my answer properly your response might be more constructive. He does not want to widen his shoulders so doing a football (as in Soccer) workout would be perfect! Yes of course rugby players are wider HENCE my suggestion to do a football players workout - you didn't even read his question. – TheLearner May 29 '12 at 9:48

@IvoFlipse If you want to make fitness SE a deserted place right from the beginning, go on arbitrarily closing questions and voting down answers. – artistoex May 29 '12 at 15:02
Did you bother to read to comments on the question? As it is, the question is vague and overly broad. If the OP comes back or someone else edits it into something better, we can easily reopen it, else I think it should remain closed. – Ivo Flipse May 29 '12 at 16:09
