I might be asking the impossible, but where can I find low-calorie, low-sugar, AND low-cost packaged foods with a large(ish) serving size and containing "meat" (or "meat" alternative) at the grocery store?
What I've found so far (and aren't ideal):

  • leancuisine.com and healthychoice.com: expensive, small serving size

  • 100 calorie snack packs: most are high in sugar, expensive, and smallish serving size. Additionally, not really suitable as meals.

  • packaged/canned vegetables: ok, these technically meet my specs, but I don't think one can live on canned veggies alone?

My goal: microwave a packaged meal whenever I feel peckish, several times during the day.

Theory: I'll end up eating fewer calories/sugar than if I ate 2 big meals daily (like I do now).

Problem 1: if it takes too long to prepare a "quick meal", I'll end up eating fast food or something that prepares quickly.

Problem 2: If eating 6-7 small meals per day (ie, 200 calories each) costs me too much, I won't be able to afford it, and will revert back to heavier (but less expensive) food.
