comment The impact of Diet Cola on a low carb diet
"You need carbs, protein, and fat to survive" In fact, if you eat a diet with zero fat, you will die. If you eat a diet with zero protein, you will die. If you eat a diet with zero carbohydrates, nothing whatsoever negative will happen to you. As Max explains you must slash carbs to actually eliminate body fat. Keto sticks will let you know if you are or not.

The one and only thing that causes glycerides to be converted to triglycerides in your body, is caused by carbohydrate intake affecting your pancreas. There is absolutely no other mechanism, for fat cells increasing fat storage, in your body. It seems to be true that to radically lose body fat, you must also moderate calorie count.

comment How can an overweight engineer get back in shape?
One year later - if anyone sees this note, just to say thanks. I now have 10% body fat, 85kg (started at 130!), and I run demi-marathons. After reading a vast quantity of books and papers (about 60 monographs) the solution for me was the 1967 book W. Lutz, "Leben Ohne Brot". I just wanted to thank you all for being the inspiration in the earliest days. Very best!!!!

comment How can I determine my recommended daily caloric intake if I know my BMR?
Hi @Berin ! just regarding your 411 cal/hour comment. This is the best known calculation for NET burn in walking gait, and also in running gait. runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-242-304-311-8402-0,00.html Even at 250 pounds walking is 75 calories per mile. 45 cal per mile at 150 pounds. (Also just based on my modest but carefully measured experience over a few months, it's impossible to burn 1000 calories walking over 10 miles .. I would have said 4 or 5 hundred tops; in agreement with that research linked.) Perhaps your estimate is high?

@Back - 20 weeks and 18KG. Whoo! Looking at the exact chart of the last 20 weeks, I was stuck on one weight, for exactly 6 of those 20 weeks (in fact, weeks 8 through 14) - I guess this is an example of a plateau. (I suppose in other words I lost 18kg in 14 weeks, with a 6 week plateau in the middle.) Perhaps it will help others to know this. I think about 20kg to go until I have no fat at all! :) Again THANKS.

Dear @BackInShapeBuddy, fantastic info, thanks: just to clarify: do you put leg raises in the same category as crunches, or in the let's say "better" category of planks. Thanks.
