comment Best warm up for running
My experience, the very accomplished runner's experience in the video link I provided as well as documented in the USAT Triathlon coaching manual I'm sure there is.

comment Can I train for a marathon with just two runs per week?
Just a reminder, folks. If you are going to down vote, it's always a good idea to add a comment why you down voted, else how will the poster and community benefit?

And yes, I know 29 miles is more than the 26.2 miles of the marathon. I did say this was a very non-conventional plan.

I'll add my comments here since geoffc, IMO, provided the best answer to the OP question and is in somewhat agreement with what I am going to add. I can not find it now; I wish I could. But, I have seen a very non-conventional marathon training plan that used only 2 runs a week. I want to say the runs were Wednesdays and Sundays, but the point here is to space them out. One run is a ~4 mile run with either hills or speed depending on week of training. The second run BUILDS TO 29 miles four weeks before the race. I'm not saying I approve or endorse this. But, I have seen it published.

comment how can I prevent gagging from mucus on back of throat when swimming?
dairy can cause mucous in many people. try removing it from your diet for a few days and see if the symptoms improve.

There are several other methods as well including various "field tests", blood testing, and other formulas like philmaffetone.com/180formula.cfm. Your mileage may vary.

@Freakyuser if you weren't comfortable in open water, i'd would then suggest you do a 3000m straight for mental readiness and/or focus on getting comfortable in open water first, then worrying about specific sets.

6x500 on :10 sounds rough. valid, yes. curious as to what effort you would recommend this to be done at? race pace? comfortable? easy? i'm not disagreeing with your answer. i'm used to doing something like 7x400 with at least :30 rest which is why I am curious on the effort with :10 rest. thanks.

comment Is a diet high in fruit as detrimental as one that includes sugary snacks?
For all the down voters here, you might want to check out thefruitarian.com. Michael Arnstein eats only produce and is a very fast and very fit athlete. I guarantee he would not have the same results if a sugary-snack-arian.
