However, supplementation of K1 appears to have no positive effect (unless it fixes a deficiency). The body seems to convert K1 to K2 at a fixed rate, and K1 is inactive in the body. Supplementation of K2 on top of what the body produces is what's beneficial.

b) Deadlifts tend to emphasize the posterior chain anyway, it's easier to hit you hamstrings with them than with squats, for most people anyway. The picture actually shows a deadlift, albeit with a rediculously low weight.

a) Squats don't hit the hamstrings properly unless you do them right, and the vast majority of people from developed countries are way to tight in their hips and legs to even try, unless they do a lot of stretching first.
