How do I squat if I can't keep my heels on the floor? @Kate That test looks cool, what are some expected values? All I've found is that <10 cm is considered restricted. |

Compound, total body exercises minimising quad and ham development I've heard that the "Greyskull LP" program is designed to focus more on upper-body while using the same concepts as SS. Check it out. |

What exercises would make up the minimum, complete, general fitness workout? @HerrKaputt If you check the SS wiki, they have an alternative program with pull-ups. I believe it's taken from the "Practical Programming" book. Additionally, there's a program that's "actually taught by Rippetoe at the gym" and I believe that one also includes pull-ups. |

What exercises would make up the minimum, complete, general fitness workout? @DaveLiepmann Yeah, I tend to agree on the pistols actually. Once you "get it" they're no longer a challenge (source: I've been able to do a pistol for the last 5 years or so, and I don't consider myself very strong). |

What exercises would make up the minimum, complete, general fitness workout? Do you feel that just rings would be enough? Pull-ups/muscle-ups for pulling, pushups/dips for pressing and pistols for the legs? V-ups can be added for extra core work. (Rings instead of just bar as they allow a worthwhile pressing movement) |

Does warmup volume have a detrimental effect on working set? Personally, I'd just start with the bar, and add ~20 kg until I reach the target weight. Maybe I'd stretch the last "jump" to 25 or 32.5 or however-much I need; once the difference gets too big I'd add in another warmup set. |

Does warmup volume have a detrimental effect on working set? How much are you lifting (ballpark)? |

Effects of wearing gloves Why not just wrap something around the bar instead of wearing gloves (like a towel)? That's the usual method I hear about for improving gripping strength. |

Effects of wearing gloves If you wear gloves, you will always have problems with callouses; if you don't, eventually you'll skin will harden and you won't have any trouble. Hence, I recommend you not to wear any. |

Whats the optimal height for a pull up bar? For me, the ideal height is when I can just reach the bar when standing up on my toes. Bending knees is slightly uncomfortable, as is jumping too high (not that you'll get too much height in an apartment anyway). |

Symmetrical body workouts to compensate for imbalance If you are doing unilateral exercises of any kind, always start with the weaker side first. |

What work/rest timings should I use for my HIIT workouts? Tabata is 20s work / 10s rest, not 40/20. And yes, you are not able to recover fully, that is the whole point. If you keep with it it'll be easier, though. |

How to maintain the hygiene of rockclimbing shoes? Are you are holding them under the tap won't mess them up in any way? That was my first idea (plus I saw people carrying around toothbrushes in the gym), but I was afraid running them under water could damage the rubber. As far as prevention goes, I keep them in the bag for about an hour it usually takes me to get home from the gym - should I really try to air them during this time too, or is it ok? Otherwise, they are always airing. |

How to maintain the hygiene of rockclimbing shoes? Thanks! I guess I should mention that I only go indoor climbing with them (so points 1 and 7 are kinda moot for me). I guess going with socks instead of barefoot will provide the biggest difference, and I'll see about getting some kind of spray too. |

Is there cardio or weight loss benefit to doing the Tabata (HIIT) workout more than once a day? If you are able to pull off two Tabata's in a row you're doing it wrong (or you're already very fit). Remember, it's supposed to be maximum intensity not "well, this is kinda hard I guess". |
