How much do empty barbells weigh? If there's a scale in your gym, why not just measure it yourself? |

How do I increase endurance in doing pull-ups? You can check some of the other questions tagged with "pull-up" for ideas on how to increase your rep count. |

Rope climbing gymnastic tricks — what are they called? In the meanwhile, try training to climb upside-down... looks pretty darn impressive. :) |

Start running and progress without overtraining Couch to 5k is a decent program, I don't see why it doesn't apply in your situation too. If you feel the first couple of weeks are too easy considering your current fitness levels (since you cycle), feel free to skip them. |

How to proceed with StrongLifts after illness I'll try to pull the quote from SS (same principles, really) later, but in essence, repeat your last workout. If you feel weak during the warmup, feel free to deload a little (eg. 10%) - this will also allow you to focus on form. |

How to do warm-ups before pull-ups I suppose you could do some head mobility (circles, up, down, left right) and shoulder mobility work, but the main point is that just because your muscles hurt ("delayed-onset muscle soreness") doesn't mean you shouldn't do the exercise the next time. If you "work through" the pain a few times, it will greatly diminish and even completely disappear soon enough. |

Circuit training plan and diet Circuit training can mean almost anything, it would probably be helpful if you could describe your exact routine. Still, your goals are quite vague (define "tone muscles and abs") so I don't know how much help we'll be. |

How do I do dips without rotator cuff pain If possible, a video would be great (or a form check from someone local); perhaps the bars are too narrow for your frame? In any case, I'd lay off the machines. |

Adding power to my pull-ups? @DavidR I'm very much a beginner, I can lead maybe a 5/5+ (which is... 5.6/5.7 I guess). All my climbing needs is practice, I know that strength is not a limiting factor. I mention it because Dave noted many movements are sport-specific so I figured it might be relevant, but as I've said, it's not my primary motivation for wanting to get better. I guess pure strength (and power) are much more important once you get to "inclined" routes, but those are aways off for me. But please feel free to write an answer from a rock-climbers perspective! (BTW, I'd love to see more questions on climbing) |
