Adding power to my pull-ups? Oh, and -- what is your opinion on chest pull-ups? I do them occasionally but I could put more focus on them. Are they helpful in this context, or should I consider them just another pull-up variation? |

Adding power to my pull-ups? BTW, as far as work capacity goes, I've always wanted to try burpee-pullups, but again, the bar I have is too low, so when I jump there's hardly any room for pulling. |

Adding power to my pull-ups? Thanks, you've mostly confirmed what I already thought - many of the things you mentioned are on my list of "to-get" (actual room for muscle-ups, rings, rope to climb). I also agree with you on kipping pull-ups, it was just a thought (but I'm glad I had the sense to ask about it here). As far as sport-specific goes, I rock-climb, but that's not my main motivation. |

Adding power to my pull-ups? @michael I'm sure it is, but as I said, I've nowhere to practice (consistently) so I don't know! Once I actually attempt it and see how it goes, I'm sure another question will be forthcoming. :) |

Adding power to my pull-ups? @DavidR Yes, I did do weighted pull-ups for a time, it helped me break the 12 plateau; I unfortunately didn't stick with it (I think I even wrote about this somewhere on this site). My goal is peak power, and another goal is a muscle-up. I hope the two have at least something in common. Currently my schedule is not conductive to any organized programming, so I'm mostly fishing for ideas for when I can focus on this (from October or so). |

Adding power to my pull-ups? @DaveLiepmann Yes, power as in speed-strength. I'm looking more for peak power. |

What's the ideal way to maintain my deadlift with minimal recovery demands? BTW, props for your stats, I'm about the same size and lift(ed) much less. |

What can cause severe muscle fatigue and even pain at wake-up? Agreed with @MattChan, this is off-topic for us. |

Upper back exercise on the road Take a towel, wrap it around the doorknob, do "rows", or put it on the door (from the top) and close the door, do "rows". I think Ross Enamait has some more ideas, check his website. |

Need help evaluating my diet to gain muscle I'd just increase all amounts by eg. 10% and see if that helps. |

Gaining without workout You seem to imply muscle can only be gained through lifting (in whatever capacity), disregarding sports. Perhaps you won't build much muscle on random sport X, but eg. rowing or rock-climbing is sure to put something on you. |

How can I increase my pull-ups reps? Check my new answer; I thought this was pretty well-known actually. |

How can I increase my pull-ups reps? Also, this is all fine and dandy if all you're doing are pull-ups, but if you are doing other strenuous training (eg. a barbell program) greasing the groove is probably not a good idea. |

How can I increase my pull-ups reps? If someone can only do a few pull-ups in a set, I feel they would be much better served by a "grease the groove" style method. Ah, I guess I should write that up and see what gets upvoted. :) |

Arm workout similar to P4P's ab series? Just do pull-ups, grease the groove. If you want an endurance component, do a burpee-pullup (burpee, then on the jump grab the bar and do a pull-up -- not as easy as it sounds). |

What exercise develops internal fortitude? I don't think this is a good question for this website (though I'm sure there will be many answers). |

Insanity workout - first day failed diet - should I restart or not? It would probably help if you give us more information - what is the insanity workout program, what is the diet you're supposed to follow and in which way you "screwed it up". |

Starting Strength: How do I know when I should cut? If you are still making linear gains, why stop? Other than that, yeah, when you decide having less fat is more important than getting stronger, cut. |

Would Tabata be any good on a stationary bike? @Saveyourself91 I started my Tabata with 6 rounds of effort (3 mins), but progressed within a couple of weeks to the full 8. You are correct, your last few rounds will probably be very bad but you can't improve if you don't do 'em. |

Am I gaining anything more by doing accessory work with Starting Strength or is it potentially not contributing anything? +1, the answer I alluded to in my comment above. |
