While I've also found that yoga helps flexibility, so does running. Tae kwon do is also frequently taught with very inefficient stretching methods.

comment Does Muscle Fiber type matter?
@Geek I've never done anything like that, so I'm not sure. Personally I'd try sprints, 20-rep squats, and other metcon type workouts in order to lean out instead. For biceps I'd just do more chin-ups.

@Geek A novice linear progression is not the time to lose fat unless you're fairly overweight. If you aren't, and still want your program to do so, I'd advise a LeanGains diet & lifting program. This second question would be a good post on its own :)

I disagree strongly. If someone is doing a 5 or 10k, they are getting their cardio from running. They need strength training, particularly for the lower body. Light-weight upper-body dumbbell work as described in the article is barely useful at all for improving running times.

@Salsero69 If you ate more than the calories you burned, it's likely you'd just poop it out. Our bodies are not simple calorie furnaces, turning excess into fat. I'm with John on skepticism of the HR monitor being terribly specific about calories.
