comment How do I get higher in a pullup?
Are you kipping on the explosive ones, or just pulling hard?

comment Why might assisted chin-ups not be recommended to build up to unassisted ones?
My experience is negligible in this matter, but the extreme help that band-assisted chins give at the bottom makes me suspect that people who use them to progress are relying on the all-over strength increases from the novice effect, and not the specific utility of the bands. I prefer negatives, holds, lat pull-downs, and partner-assisted chins.

comment Do you have a post training window with regard to eating any foods?
@Informaficker I've experienced pretty clear post-workout differences in dairy and carb digestion, and read the science behind it. I'm also convinced by evidence for post-workout protein absorption being different. The "eat anything!" idea is hopelessly oversimplified, but let's not dismiss the whole thing as a myth.

comment Mixing weight training and cardio/strength
Check out the research on "undulating periodization", which is a generally weekly schedule that includes a day each of strength, metcon, and endurance, progressing each rep range separately.

comment Workout plan for a lazy person
I'd like some more detail on the weight training. Everyone has a different definition of "classic weight lifting". Singles for Olympic lifts? Powerlifting for PRs? Machines for biceps and triceps? 20 rep skullcrushers and face pulls?

comment What kind of home exercises are helpful when one trains martial arts?
@Informaficker Someone who's serious about martial training should get an Olympic weightlifting set and a pull-up bar.

comment Is there a difference between the benefits from extra sets or extra reps?
@Kate Now that I think about it, I don't know that I agree with my August self. I tried to delete this answer but can't because it's been accepted.
