I lift, train combat sports, and am interested in any physical or outdoor culture.

Thanks for the link @DForck42 ! I also agree that there's very likely an error in reading the device, or the device itself is just not accurate enough.

comment Why is the weight not dropping off?
Agreed with both commenters. It's not enough for me to downvote, but the 3500 calories = 1 pound has been thoroughly shown to be incomplete and misleading.

Why do you say you're stronger--are you doing strength work other than cycling?

comment Is it okay to continue workouts while fasting?
I have no expertise on this topic, but I'd at least dramatically reduce your weekly training volume during the fast. Half the training with reduced weights would be fine--you'll almost certainly loss strength and conditioning, but I'd be concerned with "bonking" if you don't.

How long? How much weight? Lower back or upper back rounding?

comment Should rep range be determined by muscle fiber composition?
@JoJo I'm almost certain that a related question was asked about why Rippetoe recommends higher reps for assistance exercises. I haven't found it yet. :(

@RobinAshe Could you provide a reference for that?

I'm only considering pausing the deadlift because lifting is not my primary physical priority (it's behind judo and exploration of nature) and I have a limited capacity for recovery. If I don't need to stop it, then put that in your answer. But I'm not really looking to change my squat programming, since I'm still doing fine on it.

I'm confused. My squat is indeed going up doing 3x5, and my weight is slowly increasing (though I am definitely growing stronger while maintaining or even losing weight). Do you have any recommendations on programming or set/rep schemes for my deadlift instead?

@VPeric Thanks. I'm lucky that my body likes the deadlift, but it took a lot of consistent effort to get it heavy.

Do you have heavier weights? How heavy are they now?
