comment Is my current strength building workout good to start off with?
This is just to try and get my stomach/abdomen in a better shape and remove the ever so slight flab I have developed. There is no such thing as targeted fat removal. Doing sit ups will build a little abdomen muscle, but they will do nothing for removing that bit of fat you have. For that, you need cardio and proper dieting.

comment Failure to do 16 pushups
+1, I used the cluster training method and got awesome results. I also agree on only focusing on the standard push-up until the time is right.

There is a website called onehundredpushups.com (or something similar), which has an incremental workout schedule for you to use when ramping up your push-up repetitions. It worked quite well for me, though I never used it to the completion (I stopped around 70).

@DaveLiepmann see my edit for the type of squat I do (I'm not sure if there is a name for it, so I did my best to describe it).

comment Arm workout similar to P4P's ab series?
You could create a simple push/pull routine mixing push-ups and pull-ups. This will take care of the chest/back/shoulders/triceps. If you want to workout the biceps as well, then you'll want to add some free weights into the routine.

comment Is there any benefit to doing supersets over taking the traditional one-exercise-at-a-time approach
@Sancho after a certain point you aren't able to simply increase the weight you lift, as your body has hit a plateau. Supersetting is one of the many methods available to people who aren't able to (or don't want to) increase the weight they are lifting.

@BerinLoritsch Agreed. For me, it all came down to personal preference. I found myself cheating much more in post-exhaustion sets, so I decided to go with pre-.
