comment Obtaining protein from alternative non-meat sources for bodybuilding
There's really no evidence that eating protein 6 times/day is necessary. Plus, people have tried fasting and building muscle effectively.

comment My knee is clicking when I do squats - should I worry?
I don't see it mentioned in the NerdFitness article, but your knees should also point outward, aligned with the toes. Also, here is why the knees make cracking sounds.

comment Does fat make you fat?
I have to point out, that the question of which fats are "good" or "bad" - is not settled. There are plenty of researchers who consider saturated fat to be healthy, not harmful, and the evidence is mounting up, that they're right.

@DForck42, so how does that rule explain raw oysters? :)

Jake, some researchers are starting to think that saturated fat is healthy, not unhealthy or fattening - and that "whole grains" may not be healthy... I realize that's a shocking suggestion, and goes against the Conventional Wisdom - but, the evidence is growing. See my answer for more information.

comment Fiber Menace - How scientific is this book?
One comment about fiber and diet in general - if you believe the Primal and Paleo diets are good (as I do, see this answer for many links), then it's not simply fiber that's a problem, but the type of fiber. In particular, grains (and legumes) are considered problematic for many reasons. Vegetables are much better, and actually have much less total fiber than grains/legumes (especially when the grains are concentrated into high-fiber cereals).

Arg! When I was making a list of diet types, I left out Breatharians. What a shocking oversight! Imagine a diet that includes no food whatsoever! Just.. air.

comment What is a “Runners High”?
@KronoS, a lot of things are natural and/or have no bad side-effects, when done at a natural level. But doing something for hours more than it normally occurs, changes the picture into something possibly harmful. Or as toxicologists say, "the dose makes the poison".

comment Can fruits replace vegetables?
@Jauzsika, fiber is helpful, as I did mention - but it doesn't magically make all the fructose disappear. At best, it raises the threshold on how much fructose you can safely consume. According to the first link, more than 100g of sugar from fruit a day, would be "problematic". Is it right? That's why I said there is no consensus. :) Some researchers think too much fructose (in any form, even fruit) is dangerous - others don't. Believe who you want to...

comment What are the differences between Paleo and Atkins diets?
Mostly correct, but not about poly-unsaturated fats. Although some may be man-made, they are naturally-occuring - including the ever-popular Omega-3 fatty acids, which are both essential (can't be synthesized internally), and natural (found in fish, nuts, etc).
