“Safe” Ab Exercise Thank you Katie. I'm not strong enough to do chin ups or pullups but I do a lot of Australian pull ups. I'm thinking what I need to do is specifically engage my abs when I do them and hold a plank as long as I can as my last exercise. |

What Heart Rate Monitor? Thanks. I really do just want to put in my own limits and have it beep me above or below. No sports involved or anything. I realized I had a subscription to consumer reports so I looked them up there. I settled on a Polar FT7 since it was rated quite highly. |

Is there a definitive way to calculate a target heart rate for a cardiovascular workout? This is the way I've always heard it should be done. However, I think I have a bit of a wrinkle. When I'm sitting watching TV at night, my heart rat is probably 66-68. However, when I wake up in the morning my heart rat is almost always 48. That is quite a difference. Sometimes I wonder if it is so low because I was a distance runner as a young man and my RHR in those days was 38. Now that I am a fat 53 year old, I wonder if I'm not just getting more of a chance to fully recover over night. Somehow I doubt it, but it would sure be interesting to know why there is such a difference. |

Balance Problems Thank you. I've ordered a wobble board from amazon. We'll see if I can do it without flying off of it :) |

Patellofemoral Syndrome Exercises I watched those videos. I never realized that there was more to it, say, on a split squat, than just getting your self up. I do notice that putting my hand on the VMO seems to make it more effective. I'll have to keep it all in mind as I do all this. I'm a little suprised/disappointed that I hand heard this stuff before. |
