comment Optimum heart rate for fat loss
@michael - Totally agree with you. I do long distance cycling (centuries+) and my training of choice for the past 6 years is a form of HITT. The tradeoff is that I'm in condition several weeks quicker and I ride shorter training rides, than if I train using long, slow distance.

The body metabolizes HFCS and sucrose in much the same way since both consist of fructose and glucose. The glucose component is separated from the fructose component in the gut. The glucose is then available to be metabolized by any cell in the body. However, the fructose is only metabolized by the liver. The liver synthesizes glycogen until the liver glycogen stores are re-filled; and after that it synthesizes tri-glycerides (fat). I only have 133 characters left, so here's a wikipedia link for a start... goo.gl/3LNxz

comment Will wearing ankle weights all day long make any difference?
+1 - It's totally unnatural to carry weight on one's extremities for any sustained period of time. Ankle weights ruin one's stride and otherwise create a horrible imbalance on natural movement.

comment How do I prevent and/or treat dehydration?
You live and workout in hot, dry AZ. I live and workout in rainy, cool, OR. Our hydration needs are different. Of course we need enough H2O, and we also need a good electrolyte balance.

Please clarify. What is your workout? Proper hydration depends on the individual, the particular workout, the workout intensity, and the temperature (environmental) conditions. As an example, in my case, being properly hydrated depends on whether I'm doing an endurance cycling workout vs. strength training in the gym (+/- whether the surrounding temp is hot/cold).

comment How do I determine what a paleo diet is?
So, the "paleo" diet is not actually a "paleo" diet? Seems like the modern interpretation of a "paleo" diet is not a hunter-gatherer diet but one where one actually eats very few processed foods. It seems to follow [Michael Pollan's ideas][1]? Just asking? [1]: michaelpollan.com/books/food-rules

This link says to avoid legumes. Why? Fresh fava beans are quite good and I can't imagine my paleo ancestors refusing them.

Just asking, it looks more like eating "closely to natural foods" as opposed to "processed foods"?

Eric Cressey's stuff is quite good. I have the DVD, "Magnificent Mobility". It helped change my perspective on stretching and flexibility.

Here's a link to an article on T Nation, titled "Deconstructing Computer Guy". Don't let the horrid site design throw you off because the article is quite good.

comment I don't walk, jog, run but I hope to. How can I get into habit of running?
@Goma - For whatever reason you seem set on walking/jogging/running...but like Yevgeniy says, "If you don't enjoy it or can't get into it, consider other physical activities instead."

comment Stationary cycling and soreness
@Duncan - The original poster wants to do "do cardio 3 times a week for about 50 minutes each session" - This should be easy to do without soreness.

comment Is there a best time of the day to exercise?
+1 - The best time to exercise is when you'll actually do it on a regular basis! The key is to workout vs. not working out.
