comment Are protein supplements used outside of bodybuilding?
@DaveLiepmann "since protein is usually highly satiating" that definitely needs a citation

comment Are protein supplements used outside of bodybuilding?
Eating more stuff to lose weight is like having more unprotected sex to avoid getting pregnant IMO

comment Equipment for deadlifts with arm injury
...to a narrow band in the middle of the clavicle, which may or may not fracture it (if there is existing bone material fatigue or even cracks). Of course I am talking about 150+ kg lifts

Thank you for the answer. My concerns about injury are purely speculative: compared to regular deadlifts which spread load evenly usin muscle and connective tissue, the belt/chain system applies all pressure

comment What is the most optimum way to get best results out of protein shakes?
Half portion of what is said on your protein can. Typically 1 scoop = 1 portion. "Amino acids" are building blocks of muscle fiber.

comment Why do so many fitness websites still reference somatotypes?
@JohnP: it says that there is no proven link between body type and personal traits and intellect. I don't see where it says that body metabolism is proven to not be hereditary.

comment Why do so many fitness websites still reference somatotypes?
@TonyArra: I am not a geneticist nor a biologist, so I have to trust the scientific authority blindly, which is why in lieu of own insight I provide this link: genome.gov/DNADay/q.cfm?aid=5366&year=2005

Care to provide a link to a study? Preferably the one that found near-zero correlation between metabolism characteristics of parents and kids.

comment Why do so many fitness websites still reference somatotypes?
@JohnP: there was a study recently that basically said that people who are not predisposed to being good at painting never become good at painting. Sometimes those excuses are valid. Even if you prove that body type is a social construct, people who are predisposed to being lazy will invent new ones :)

IMO, these are merely handy terms used by the websites without the implications of the original theory. Those who are genetically predisposed to being thin may be called ectomorphic instead of «people who tend to be thin naturally». It does not mean that people who say that also imply that the naturally thin person is also an anxious introverted intellectual. Or at least it appears so.
