Sr Applications Developer @ jp2code.net
Years ago, I left home and joined the United States Marine Corps where I was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty of Basic Metal Worker (MOS 1316). I loved building things as a welder, but could not see myself doing this until I reached age 65.
After my Honorable Discharge in the early 1990s, I used my G.I. Bill to go to school and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics four years later.
Using a love of computers since I played on a Commodore 64 at 10 years old and two (2) C++ electives that I had taken in school, I began working in the computer programming field.
The recession following ENRON in 2001 left me working at a remedial job for a little over two years while I brushed up on my skills at a local community college in SQL and first learned what the new .NET Framework was all about.
I have had the pleasure of working as a Software Developer since 2003.
For a short while, I pulled in a little extra income by running a moonlighting business under the name Joe's Welding. Dangerous working conditions and non-paying customers prompted me to sell my mobile welding equipment about the time my son was born.
Today, I am exclusively a Software Developer. My language of choice is C#, and I enjoy working with databases.
Where I am not known by my code, I am known by my motorcycle: I am one of the few riders who loves the Harley-Davidson XR1200. Pictures of my modified XR are posted on websites around the world, and I go by the screen name JoeP on the XR1200 Owner's Group.

How do I squat if I can't keep my heels on the floor? Frankly, that's what I'm wondering. If he starts doing squats with the Smith machine, that will force him all the way down, stretching his ligaments, and enabling him to eventually be able to squat down with his heels flat on the floor without weights. You and Kate don't seem to understand this. |

How do I squat if I can't keep my heels on the floor? The question is tagged incorrectly. Is that correct? |

How do I squat if I can't keep my heels on the floor? Did you see the OP's video? He can not do this with NO weight, so he can't really go down in weight unless he ties Helium balloons to his belt. |

Is it bad to use a blender with protein powder I agree, Wayne, so I upvoted to counter the bozo. |

Tightening Dumbbells Ah! I have already been putting red Loctite on the threads, but having someone hold the other side is a good idea. |

Need to run every day - best way to stop? +1. Does not have to be heavy lifting, though; just go get some exercise elsewhere. (I'm guessing you work at a desk job.) Find some way to exercise, whether that be chopping firewood, shoveling snow, mowing the grass, yoga (ugh!), or hitting the gym. ...hey! Maybe a motorcycle! :) |

Any authoritative references for strength training nutrition requirements? Interesting idea for a book. Essentially, what you would have would be a huge book with a flow chart. If you are this way, turn to page X; if you are that way, turn to page Y. That would continue on until you reach the end of the author's list, where he would reward you with your specific eating goal. However, I don't think that exists. |

Is this heart rate too high for a beginner runner? Also, keep in mind that actual Heart Rates fluctuate with different body types (tall & thin, short & thin, tall & thick, short & thick). These HR scales are trying to give you a guideline. |
