Software Developer @ jp2code.net

Long ago, I left home and joined the United States Marine Corps where I was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty of Basic Metal Worker (MOS 1316). I loved building things as a welder, but could not see myself doing this until I reached age 65.

After my Honorable Discharge in the early 1990s, I used my G.I. Bill to go to school and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics four years later.

Using a love of computers since I played on a Commodore 64 at 10 years old and two (2) C++ electives that I had taken in school, I began working in the computer programming field.

The recession following ENRON in 2001 left me working at a remedial job for a little over two years while I brushed up on my skills at a local community college in SQL and first learned what the new .NET Framework was all about.

I have had the pleasure of working as a Software Developer since 2003.

For a short while, I pulled in a little extra income by running a moonlighting business under the name Joe's Welding. Dangerous working conditions and non-paying customers prompted me to sell my mobile welding equipment about the time my son was born.

Today, I am exclusively a Software Developer. My language of choice is C#, and I enjoy working with databases.

If you care to find me anywhere else, just do a search on my screen name: jp2code

I suppose I should have started my question by saying I think their product is complete BS. I cringe every time I hear that commercial saying it is going to "shrink your Fat Cells". I'm pretty sure those do not shrink.

No benefit other than doctors' CYA principle. If a doc tells you to do sit-ups and you damage yourself, you could sue them. So, they say do crunches.

comment Eating 7-8 meals for build muscle but loose fat. How?
The only part where I cringed was when I saw, 'or if you have one huge meal every evening.'

comment How come home gym is less productive than going to the real gym?
People will workout a little harder at a professional gym because 1) People are watching/commenting, 2) Better equipment, maintained equipment, workout atmosphere, 3) Fewer at home distractions.

I'd vote for eating a bowl of oatmeal. There is decent protein there, and it takes oatmeal longer to process than the fruit salad and jam (I'd think the sugars from those would be burned off before you started the run).

comment Are there benefits in having a post workout shake before a workout?
You are reading too much into it, JohnP. If a person's system is unable to process a full 80 g of protein, whatever does not get stored as fat gets discarded as bodily waste - just like most other foods. Also, I'm not saying 20-30 g of protein per hour all day long, but that there is no need in exceeding that amount in a given time frame.

I've never heard about that 24 hour window before. Does anyone have a reference for it?

comment Do I lose muscle mass if I do anaerobic exercises throughout my diet?
After about 30 minutes of cardio, your body has burned out of the sugars stored in your blood. Then, it gets energy where it can. That can come from converting fat or muscle to energy.

comment 40/40/20 Ratio and 1.5g of protein per pound still a good rule of thumb?
LOL - and now we develop software. I don't think Arnold regrets too much of his past. It was all a stepping stone to make him who he is today.

All of those statements I made were preceded with reasons that you conveniently neglected to mention.
