Does the optimal hypertrophy rep range apply to tired muscles? The question is not whether hyperplasia contributes to the size of the muscle cross section (when combined with hypotrophy), its whether hyperplasia is possible. Many people said and still say that you are stuck with the number of fibers you get as a fetus. A study done in 1982 by Tesch and Larsson (and then repeated in 1989), showed that this is possible. I keep finding articles referring to it but can't find the actual journal article. If you can find it let me know! A cross section of advanced body builders showed more fibers - rather than bigger fibers. |

Any solid reasoning behind the fitness regime: 1 set, as many reps as possible? I agree with your answer except for the 12-15 reps being hypotrophy. It is more like 15-20. |

Does lifting more than 5lbs really cause females to bulk? Excellent answer - especially the stuff the the ambiguity of the 'tone' word. |

Does lifting more than 5lbs really cause females to bulk? Well said. Its such an insult to guys like me that work very hard in the gym with a perfect diet to put on 200 grams of muscle a week. I get pinch tested every week and if I'm slack in the gym, I don't put on any muscle. Its that simple. Looking around at the way most people train, my version of "slack" still exceeds the way most people train. IMHO most bodies, especially female, are tightly regulated by natural hormones and your body won't let you get too bulky (without drugs). Our bodies are an amazing machine. |

How much can the 95th Percentile lift without overly exerting themselves? I lift 50kg dumb bells and I'm not that big. |

Reducing flab and Building the Upper Body simultaneously - Guidance? You seem to "get it". Good answer. I particularly like how you didn't recommend cardio necessarily and also quality whole foods. |

Does fat make you fat? This is terrible. The recommended advice is to drink more water for wait loss. |

Can I do anything about an uneven six-pack? Protein shakes are optional - I just try to get at least 40% of your calories from protein (meats mainly). Protein shakes help reach this quota. |

Can I do anything about an uneven six-pack? If you want to gain (or at least keep) your muscle while loosing fat, I would recommend dropping the weight and doing higher reps (up to 20). Pick a weight where you should be close to if not at complete failure by the 20th rep. High reps on leg exercises such as squats and leg press are especially a great way to burn fat. The other tip I'd give you is to get your food right! Estimate your body fat % (or get it checked) and then prescribe yourself a diet that feeds yourself about 130% of your minimum required calories. Under eating is as bad as over eating for a good physique. |
