I am a certified personal trainer who services all of Brooklyn in the homes of my clients. I am currently certified by the IFA. Hopefully when I have the time I will be able to complete my NASM certification as well as the FMS certification.

I am currently an undergrad at Touro College working toward a DPT.

comment Should we train calves 3 times per week?
t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/… This is an article that can shed some light on your question. I didnt read thru the entire thing which is why I am posting it as a comment. The little that I did read seems to really be applicable and helpful here.

Although I love this question and would really like to know the answer to it, I have to tell you that it is out of scope for this site. Questions relating general health are off topic.

comment What is an effective and safe way to train shoulders out of the gym?
I agree for he most part with you are saying and that was actually what I was thinking to myself before I posted this question. My thought process however, is that since I have them doing pull downs, I should have them doing the antagonistic movement of that which would be shoulder presses. Ultimately, what I would like to know is if I have them working all heads of the shoulders, but indirectly, will that be balance enough and not lead to injury?

As of now I do not have any dumbbells to lug around to all my clients' homes. This is why I have the bands instead.

Thanks. As you guessed many of my clients wouldn't be able to perform the unmodified version of this exercises. I will certainly try to have them do the knees on chair modification.

comment Can I replace the overhead press with the seated version?
I am not really sure which answer to accept since all of you mentioned the lack of shoulder mobility being a possible cause. As it happens that is indeed what my issue is, and I am currently working on shoulder mobility exercises before I try again. Thanks for the input!

Why is this any different than asking "which exercise should I perform do enhance my chest?", I think this questions does indeed fall under the scope of the site.

Im at my gym right now playing around with these various grips you posted, but,and this will sound weird, my neck keeps getting in the way so I am unable to get my shoulders up straight. My wrists are not hurting now though.

comment Increasing Weight : Plateau stage
@geeky_sh You most certainly should only increase when you feel comfortable enough to do so. Also, You made no mention as to whether you train with barbells mostly or dumbbells mostly. If you train primarily with barbells then it is easier to increase weight since you only have to increase 5 lbs at a time as opposed to 10 pounds with dumbbells. Just some food for thought.

comment squats and alignment of knees
I obviously meant that as an expression. I simply meant to say that a correct squat is when you go down as low as possible.

comment Is taking a set to failure recommended for any type of lift or goal?
I once read an article that said going to failure when working for strength is not recommended, but when working for mass there can be some benefits. When I'll find the article again I will post it as an answer.

comment Quads vs Hamstrings in Squats and Lunges
I'm not sure about lunges, but with squats it depends on how low you go. If you reach parelel then you will feel the glutes and hamstrings otherwise it is only a quad exercise which is why you will only feel the quads.

comment What is the correct form for seated shoulder press with dumbbells?
@DavidR so what you're saying is that it isn't necessarily wrong but simply lacks the benefit of also engaging the core while working the shoulders?
