comment Overhead presses when hyperlordotic
Sounds very appropriate and will definitely start on your suggestions. Also will notice if I've been initiating with lats and watch elbows as I haven't been noticing. Layback: I can't lean back much more without putting my back in what feels a dangerous position. The lumbar is excessively curved just from standing upright.

Not 100% sure but two health professionals (physio and pilates) have immediately said I am. It's also extremely obvious visually with the protruding gut/bum.

No, I didn't realize there was an 'l' and would never take a dig. Respect him greatly for the SS manual. I must have been reading too many digs.

But as the heaviest lifters also weigh the most (even without considering the extra body mass they're lifting as well), would I be right in concluding the beginner * x 5 linear progression programs aim to maximize strength gains without regard for bulking up? Would someone training to maximize strength-to-weight do it alone via diet or a very different lifting routine?

I always imagined cutting phases cut back on the load, but having a quick read around, I can see Bernite wasn't unique in keeping his strength training the same. I think you've convinced me it's time to start reading some programming texts - I've had my eye on those by Rippletoe and Low.

Always helpful, I appreciate it Dave. Thinking about it, most of the guys I see doing heavy squats and deadlifts are tanks, as are the guys in strong man competitions. I'll post another question in an attempt to reconsider my training goals.

Ok, so that sounds like it is possible to aim for a calorie surplus that purely feeds muscle growth rather than being portioned between muscle growth and fat storage. I was thinking by doing cardio or restricting diet that my strength workouts would become less effective.

Pilates and Yoga are completely different.

"more than before" = short term. Weight performance standards = longer term.

comment How dangerous are steroids (injections)?
The question is condemning their use, not condoning. Also steroids are legal in many countries of the world, quite likely as well in Morocco where the poster indicates they are from.

Useful question--I hope it doesn't get closed.

Loading and deloading the plates off the bar and plate trees?

So there's no succinct terminology to describe what I would have thought is quite a common request?

Standing, they just were diagonally behind and pushed up the bar in the middle with one hand. Only a slight assist but it definitely made it easier.

Is that because they're helping me get to a position I can't lower from safely?

Sorry, I should have mentioned last set is AMRAP so I can't nominate a number. I always require help unracking and racking however due to the rearward racking position.

Mark Rippetoe in his power clean video shows his students dropping the barbell (w/ bumper plates) from about chest height. If he's ok with it in his gym, then the owner of your gym might also be ok with it.
