Changing Starting strength to lose Fat Although Rippetoe recommends GOMAD for those wishing to put on weight, I have 2L (0.5 gallon) of low-fat milk on workout days for the protein. I rarely reach 1g protein per pound body weight but don't mind having non-optimal strength gains. I don't feel my recovery is hampered but I'm only squatting and deadlifting around body weight at this stage, so it's probably not an issue yet. |

Changing Starting strength to lose Fat The variant is GreySkull LP, if that's what you're asking, but only for the training side--I didn't purchase SWOLE, their eating plan to pack on muscle without fat. |

A linear progression v-taper program Phrak's variant - I'm glad you posted as it gives me confidence I've pieced everything together well. I like to hit 13+ reps before doubling the weight increase as I don't wish to eat for optimal strength gains. I see he does rows where I do Ez-curls, I may have to consider that at some stage. |

Will grip strength automatically increase with deadlift? yes you're sort of right come to think of it Berin, Greyskull wants you to stop when you think you won't be able to do another rep. My question void. |

Improving freestyle swimming pace Not to mention how hard it is to take video at a public pool. First time I tried with my phone I was told to put the camera away. |

Will grip strength automatically increase with deadlift? My last set (Greyskull) is AMRAP so generally I don't know when my last rep was until I've failed the next one. I guess doing the 10-15s on last rep of the last warmup wouldn't be advisable, and after the last set, I'm dead. Any alternative, or just forget the 10-15s bit? |

Will grip strength automatically increase with deadlift? No sweaty hands here either, it's more of a strength thing I think than friction. Gym has a dark carpet too, not sure they'd be too happy, but that Dry Hands stuff if sweat ever becomes a problem. |

Will grip strength automatically increase with deadlift? Lifting 210 pounds, weigh about the same, 6ft tall, simple overhand grip as in Berin's first picture. |

Should I concentrate on leg lengthiness exercises first or leg thickening exercises first? Only posture correction (if out) can make you taller. Gaining more muscle will actually make you look shorter. |

Which are examples of “higher intensity cardio”? For a moment I read your peak heart rate at 224! |

A linear progression v-taper program I read GreySkull LP and couldn't stop reading as the author effectively confirmed, then addressed every concern I have had with SS for my particular goals. So I'm going to merge over. |

Weight gained using GOMAD strategy @mike, you've confused me with "SS has 15 total sets per day (excluding warm up)". Have I read the program wrong, because I thought it was 7 sets total per day until power cleans come in, then it goes to 11? |

What to do having underestimated an increment? However I can definitely see the merit of 'did I accomplish my goals' today, so I think I'll do the 15 pound increment, purely because it's the recommended increment and it seemed to be right, and see how I go. |

What to do having underestimated an increment? What I was hoping to do was limit growth by restricting diet so 10 pound increments did feel heavy, rather than limiting growth by lifting not-so-heavy, if that makes sense. |

What to do having underestimated an increment? "as long as the weight is going up every workout" - yep, good point. |

What to do having underestimated an increment? Definitely not trying to rush--hence choosing an 10 pound increment instead of the recommended 15 pound. But if that 10 pound turned out to be just too easy, especially for deadlifts with just a single workset, stopping there would have made me feel like I just did warmups with no actual workset. Slightly increasing the weight felt not easy, not hard, just good, like it's keeping me on track rather than taking the day off. |
