Should I wear running shoes to go running if I'm training for sports Chris is right youll see MUCH better gains in soccer performance with interval training than with long-distance running. Still get the shoes though! |

Should I wear running shoes to go running if I'm training for sports @stickman I play football (soccer) every week as well as running (up to 20 miles) and I know what you mean - its a completely different set of movements and stresses though. Running is not like soccer in that the movement is repeated over and over. It's still well worth buying the proper shoes for each sport because you WILL get injured. I think a big factor is that football is often played on a soft surface - running is done on pavements/roads etc. |

What is the correct form for a deadlift? Hi @priktop, thanks for the help! I have been practicing and got up to 3 reps of 95kg (bodyweight 70kg). I'm happy with my form now and it feels good but I always end up with massive red bruises all the way up my shins... is that expected? |

Should I wear running shoes to go running if I'm training for sports Buy some, but make you sure you get them fitted by a professional in a specialist running shop. I'd also say, don't go for this season's brand new shiny shoes that cost £150. The cheapo ones should be just as good. |

Effect of squat and dead lift on long distance runningIf you were executing those exercises to train max strength or power (eg. higher weight, low-mid reps, moderate to full recovery) they are only going to have marginally positive affects on your distance running ability but that could be offset by adding more muscle weight that will make you a less efficient runner. Not quite - training with very few reps at a high intensity will increase your strength (myofibrilar) without dramatically increasing mass. What he should avoid is sets in the 10-14 rep range and aim instead for ~2 reps at close to his 1 rep max. |

Do raw eggs contain protein inhibitors I never cook my eggs for that long.... 15 minutes would be totally overdone. Are you talking about boiling, frying or what? |

Is it okay to skip arm specific exercises? @Salsero Working out with high intensity, compound movements will increase growth hormone levels. Also the more muscle you have (anywhere), the more testosterone you will have - leading to more growth overall. |

What can I do to start gaining weight? Simple, eat more. If you think you already do eat enough to gain weight, you're just wrong. |

How to overcome lack of willpower when not having access to a personal trainer or training buddy? I never had a problem working out on my own but I just accept that some days, it's OK to quit early if you don't feel up to it. Also, make friends with people in your gym and talk to them. |

Egg whites and yolks I agree - eat the whole thing. The yolk also contains choline which is important for brain development. I think if youre needing to separate the yolk, you should try getting more protein from other sources instead. |

Slow Pulse Question @James Bond a low heart-rate on its own is nothing to worry about as long as you have no other reasons to think otherwise. Mine can be around 35-40 when i wake up in the morning. Its quite normal |
