I've been a runner and a bicyclist for years. Decades, really. Lately I've started bouldering.

comment how many high intensity interval training (HIIT) schedules can/should I do per week?
I understand why running a marathon has serious drawbacks and health risks - but what wasn't clear to me is whether the disadvantages of marathons are also relevant to shorter (but still L.D.T.) sessions, say, around 10-15km.

There's a similar (currently unanswered) question on one of the New York Times Wellness pages.

comment What are the pros and cons of training running just one day per week (18k-22k)?
This question is similar to my question about running once a week - you might want to check it out.

comment How harmful is the sun in a late afternoon to a run?
The 2nd entry in the faq is "choosing a training program". If I'm not mistaken, there are plenty of questions here that ask about the scheduling and timing of ones' daily fitness- for example, people wanting to integrate fitness with their commute to work. This questions deals with one aspect of this.

I disagree with all of you. There are plenty of questions on this site that ask how to safely arrange a routine for exercising, how to make it likely that you will persist in the routine you've chosen, etc. Running is (often) an outdoors activity and choosing a time to run, with all the factors involved, is a perfectly legitimate question for this site.

Definitely an interesting article, although I'm more interested in the "injury-prevention" aspect of maintenance, rather than the "worth-doing" side discussed there.

comment What are the effects of improving physical health on mental health?
If you don't have one, you need to make an Area51 user - that's the site for beta StackExchange projects. Then at the bottom of the Mind page there's a place where you can suggest a new sample question.

I would suggest adding this question to the proposed Mind Stack Exchange site ... they're trying to meet their quota of 40 good sample questions, and it's a good fit.

comment Is it really necessary take one entire week to rest from running?
Do you have any links to articles on the effects of resting periods? It might also be relevant as an answer to my question about how much time can I put in between runs in off periods.

Perhaps I've been misunderstood- but if you add up those three weekly workouts I described, you get 32-40 k/week, which is above 25-35k. As for my history, I've been running these distances for almost twenty years, so at the current levels it seems (to me) to suffice.
