comment biceps gaining slower than the rest
@Owen - It just works the muscle a different way. A hammer grip is another good one.

comment How to lose fat only in your thigh?
That depends on your definition of "worse" I guess. I don't think bigger is a bad thing if you're happy with the way they look. If they are disproportionate (think Ronnie Coleman's legs with Bill Gate's upper body) that may be bad, but you wont need to worry about that. On the other hand, if you add muscle to your entire body then your legs wont look as big.

comment Am I missing exercises for a balanced total body workout in a 3 day split?
Both adduction and abduction are difficult without some sort of machine unfortunately. Good idea with the dumbbells, I prefer them over the bar for many exercises.

comment Optimal method to vary muscle group recruitment?
@eykana - If you want to build mass, lift heavy. Once a week is the suggested rate in order to allow for enough rest. Once you've been lifting for a while you'll know when you can hit the same muscles again, just listen to your body.

I assumed the proper technique was outside the scope of the question as asked.

@Evan Plaice - Again, I never said "go on a diet", I would never say that. I did say to look at his diet and that 2 pounds per week on average is a good healthy weight loss amount. Obviously you will lose more at the beginning than at the end, that's why I said average. His current lifestyle habits are what made him overweight. The only way to lose fat is to change that lifestyle for the better. A majority of weight loss occurs outside of the gym.

comment Which personal trainer certifications are most respected?
@eykanal - If you don't have any experience, I'd pick the one that has the most hands-on requirements instead one of the online certificates. If you have experience, then refer to my answer. As for which will make you a better trainer... if you have the basic knowledge, then only you can make yourself better.

@Even - I never said "go on a diet". Saying that implies that you will some day "go off" your diet. I say you need a "dedicated lifestyle change".
