Mammalian biped. Abnormally tall. Myopic. Hirsute. Deliriously fond of chess (currently mid-1900s FIDE after a long hiatus), computer science, chemistry, and literature. Persistently raging against own stupidity.
Pozzo: The tears of the world are a constant quantity. For each one who begins to weep, somewhere else another stops. The same is true of the laugh. (He laughs.) Let us not then speak ill of our generation, it is not any unhappier than its predecessors. (Pause.) Let us not speak well of it either. (Pause.) Let us not speak of it at all.
I'm a mostly self-taught programmer, occasional web and mobile developer, and full-time college student chiefly interested at present in chemoinformatics and computational chemistry. I desperately cling to the meager, pathetic shreds of hacker street-cred of my first language being C, learnt at the age of 12, from K&R, compiled on an antique Kaypro PC already over a decade past its prime. Recently, I've been working mostly in Python. One day, I hope to master Haskell and then use it to sling some truly epic chemoinformatic algos. One day.
Stephen Dedalus: History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake.
I'm an agnostic atheist, rationalist, empiricist, and dour skeptic of all things not thoroughly tested. Politically, I tend to hew toward a somewhat uneasy and idiosyncratic synthesis of democratic socialism and civil libertarianism. Philosophically, I'm inclined to believe that preference utilitarianism offers the most intuitive and logically consistent approach to analyzing moral and ethical quandaries, but sometimes it's hard to escape the looming specter of relativism.
Well, I think that about covers all the bases. Congratulations on reading this far. Now, reflect on the uselessness of the information you've just acquired.

How to lose waist fat? @michael, perhaps I was oversensitive and misread your intent. My interpretation of the research tends to err pretty heavily on the side of spot reduction being a myth unless we take an extremely literal view that allows even microscopic differences to be regarded as significant. The research indicates that very subtle spot reduction, detectable in a clinical setting, might exist. That's different from what people are looking for when asking about spot reduction vis-a-vis a diet and exercise regimen. None of this research supports noticeable spot reduction within that specific context. |

How to lose waist fat? @michael, fair enough. I don't purport to be an expert and I didn't make any claims to be one in my post. Anybody who reads the claims of a random stranger on the internet should have the common sense to seek confirmation from a more authoritative source. I've done a fair amount of research on the subject and what I attempted to do was to summarize the general consensus. That said, point taken, I'll add a few sources. Now that I've taken your advice, let me reciprocate: try not to be so condescending toward well-intentioned contributors, and don't make assumptions about others are thinking. |

How to lose waist fat? @michael, is that a critique of my post or just a disagreement with its assertions? |

How to lose waist fat? There are certainly workouts that target the muscles in that area, but that's completely different from targeting the area specifically for fat loss. |
