comment What are the most efficient exercises for balanced workout
I'm at 1.5xBW on the DL. 4 exercises, 5 reps, ~30 seconds to complete each set (being generous), ~15 seconds for the warmup set (none for the chin ups), 3 rest periods of ~1 minute. I usually do the chin up after the dead lift, and the number I get isn't as consistent, so that's probably reflective of level of recovery.

I'm still going up, I'll come back and answer when I hit a wall on one or more of them.

comment My in-apartment gym lacks barbells. Should I join a new gym or buy my own barbell?
+1, I'm in the same situation. Eventually I hit the point where the dumbbells weren't providing enough resistance, so at that point I looked at finding a gym.

If you've got the space and the money though, I doesn't hurt to get yourself a barbell and a squat rack.

comment Proper way to find out your one rep max?
I'd say the other mistake was letting the spotter help him get the weights off the rack. If you need help getting it up, it's probably not safe.

comment Does daily crossfit excercise and a paleo diet reduce heart disease?
No, I wasn't, There's really nowhere else to put it, and it is on topic now, by the standards of other questions that are allowed to remain.

What kind of shoes are you wearing? And front squat or back squat?

comment Completing all sets in a weightlifting routine
@dato as long as is necessary to meet the targets you're setting, but I was actually thinking in terms of rest days. if you're working out every other day, and from one workout to the next you're doing worse, you should add at least another day of rest in between.

comment How much more weight can you hold with chalked hands?
I'd think chalk is more there to prevent developing blisters or serious callouses as quickly.

Unfortunately, none at the moment. Just rephrase the question to ask about crossfit with paleo (crossfit is fond of the paleo diet) and you're on topic.

comment Does working out with a sweatshirt on burn more calories?
If you already sweat a lot, I don't think there's any benefit to wearing a sweatshirt. Unless you're working out in the winter and the room temperature is quite cold, but then you're wearing it for heat retention rather than to promote sweating.

What kind of squats? Front squats? Back squats? How deep are they? Are you also doing deadlifts?

How much are you sweating already? As to burning more calories, if that's how it worked, you could burn calories by lying in a tanning bed.

comment Are there any side effect with SlenderTone system abs belt?
It might be somewhat useful if you've got an abdominal injury you're trying to recover from, but then you should really be getting the electrical stimulation done by your physiotherapist.

comment How does running style impact health and performance?
Running style may or may not get rid of your shin splints. I got mine from the laces being too tight. Switching to a barefoot-like running method is more likely to benefit your knees than shin splints. If the injury is anything like what you describe the pain feels like, it could be a stress fracture. See a doctor ASAP.

comment What can I do to improve my bench press and squat?
Why do you need to be able to lift heavier weights if you don't want to get heavy weights to lift? There's always lifting up whatever heavy objects there are around the house.

+1 mainly for the original part. push-ups and body weight squats will hit a ceiling pretty quickly.

comment If you consume a lot of protein but don't exercise does it go to waste?
@StupidOne nope, it's just that calories, if the hypothesis has any validity at all, work in a far more complex fashion than 99% of people who give advice based on calories understand

@StupidOne I was in a supposed calorie surplus of several thousand per day, and wasn't gaining any weight. Conversely, there are people on calorie deficits who gain weight. Using calories to predict anything is pointless.
