Why are kettlebells so expensive? I've wondered the same thing myself (they're almost 2x the price of dumbbells!), but there might not be a good source-able answer to this. |

Is there any info available on how to measure daily eating calories perfectly? there are smartphone apps / websites like "myfitnesspal" or "Livestrong MyPlate" that have imperfect calorie estimates based on foods that you enter. I've used those in the past with success to track my meals. |

Training Methods for Climbing a Suspended Rope I'm not the right guy to answer this, but I know that rope climbing is going to involve using your feet to pinch the rope, while keeping your core tense, so that you're able to keep as much weight on your legs as possible... its a fairly technical activity. That's the impression I get from people I know who do it, but I don't rope climb myself... |

What foods will help reduce my weight? @Moses - :) yes, good point. Natural "whole foods" and vegetables are significantly better than sugared sodas and junk food. I only meant that you couldn't just add some sort of supplement (a tea, fish oil, etc) to an otherwise unhealthy diet, and expect to see a benefit. |

What foods will help reduce my weight? +1 I weight about 84kg (185#s), and I used to weigh as much as 100kg (220#s). I've always found that I only lose weight if I reduce the amount of food I eat ALONG WITH exercising more. Fewer heavy carbohydrates, less junk food, less alcohol, and less processed foods always helped. More crunchy vegetables always helped. Keeping a journal of what I ate and when I exercised helped, too. The question does have a slightly wrong premise - there aren't any trick foods that you can add to your diet that cause you to lose weight or not feel hungry. |

Are there any recommended exercises to help manage a torn rotator cuff? You should probably encourage her to see a physical therapist. Helping an (older? non-athletic?) person recover from an injury might be outside the range of what can be addressed in an online forum like this one. |

Should I concentrate on leg lengthiness exercises first or leg thickening exercises first? yeah, the Original Poster isn't abnormally short, there are plenty of 5'6" guys out there, and a lot of them are actually quite good at some sports. |

Should I concentrate on leg lengthiness exercises first or leg thickening exercises first? Informaficker's right, there's no way to get taller. You can, however, use weightlifting to add muscle mass, and make yourself more physically impressive that way. And any lifting program that included heavy lifting for your lower body (i.e., squats and deadlifts) would give you thicker, more powerful legs. |

What is the correct form for seated shoulder press with dumbbells? Yeah, the leaned back seated bench is fine, as far as I can tell, most of the "military press benches" at the Golds Gym I lift weights at have a slightly leaned back bench. I personally prefer to do a standing press (because it will develop my abs more), but it does take a little more technique, and there's a chance I could injure my back if I have bad technique. I feel like I'd rather either do it standing (and have a natural, intuitive sense of how to engage my abs) or just do it seated with a reclined bench... having to brace my abs while seated might be confusing. My $0.02 |

What is the correct form for seated shoulder press with dumbbells? When you're doing a standing press, maintain tension in your abs is one of the main challenges, and an isometric abs workout is a secondary benefit of that exercise. I'd think that a seated, 90-degree shoulder press would require a similar level of abs tension (to protect your spine) as a standing press, and that using a slightly reclined (85-degree, or whatever) chair would remove this bracing requirement. |

Son walks with feet turned out but bounces on his toes, he runs very slow, but wants to play sports without pain? Any corrective tips? or find a physical therapist, instead of a running coach. |

Son walks with feet turned out but bounces on his toes, he runs very slow, but wants to play sports without pain? Any corrective tips? FWIW, a pediatrist may or may not spot an issue like hip flexibility contributing to a foot problem. My personal (limited) experience is that docs are much more specialized than you might think. |

This seems similar to this question: fitness.stackexchange.com/questions/3900/… That Q&A suggests that turning the feet out while running may be a sign of tightness in the glutes. |
