Okay then :) In my opinion, its of little to no difference for your goals. Just do what you enjoy more. Remember - proper diet is 80% of success. If you can afford to include some more physical activity into your weekly plans, please do so. You will find great advice on training plans that help accomplish your goals on our site.

comment What is a good metric for defining an ideal weight?
Dont aim at a weight, aim at a body fat percentage. Or a waist circumference, if measuring your BF% is too difficult.

Define what is "more exercise". Also, its hard to tell what are you actually asking. Are you asking what is better for you: to walk or cycle that mile? If so, you have to tell us what are you trying to accomplish, otherwise its like asking "whats better, chicken soup or sunbathing?"

Clear language barrier. Please try using google translate or asking someone to help you formulate your question properly. If youre asking if "going to the gym is worth it, my goal is gaining weight and toned physique" then the answer is "yes it is. you will have to do some form of resistance training and weight training is a good one"

@JohnP I did aswer it. She says so because she is wrong, and the problem is that they dont do you any good. Now if you have other studies that prove the one I provided wrong, then please share with us.

@Matt Chan sure, I coudl elaborate, but I thought I summarised it already saying that "stretching does not prove to be useful before training at all" ;)

I see. In that case, I will try to emulate regular PT, while for the really hard, full exhaustion, little to no sleep training, Ill try to take a course with proper instruction and supervision. In Poland there is a civilian event called Selection (Selekcja) which tries to make a taste of special foces boot camp available to anyone tough enough to try it. Thanks for your valueable answers!

So the conclusion is - army training programs focus on mental and physical resilience, boosting muscular endurance, allowing for intense activity over extended periods of time? I believe those are great goals! Since my career path does not allow me to take even the shortened military training in my country, Ill probably try some civilian para-military camps on my vacation and Ill try to train on my own. Could you please provide some hints on how (if possible) should I try to train "the army way" on my own?

The scientific basis is assumed by me - do we realy think the army trains its soldiers mindlessly and without research? Anyhow, if we cant get our hands on Army reseach results, Im asking for our SE experts for a scientific analisys of the trainign plan. As for working well - the USA has well trained and very fit soldiers. They are trained this way. Obviously, it must work.
