Alternating exercise to get faster fitness gains The c 2 10k apps (for android at least, I don't have an iPhone) and the cool-running beginner 10k program all seem to suggest a base level of running ability, I'll carry on with the c25k for now, perhaps skipping ahead if I feel up to it, until I'm at a point where the established 10k programs are't too much too soon. |

Alternating exercise to get faster fitness gains I'll wait before I've done some more running before I make any claims about my current fitness level ;) but I do have a reasonably active lifestyle. Just hoping to step it up a gear as alpine mountaineering tends to mean long days with decreased amounts of oxygen. Switching to the 10k program is a good idea, I'll consider that in a few weeks once I've got an idea of how well I'm doing. |

How long should you avoid eating before running a 5K? +1 for a thorough but short answer. this book suggests that the gain from carb-loading is "2-3% at best" and it requires 2-3 days of rest before the event so as not to use the carbs. |

Is there a best time of the day to exercise? As a kid I did a fair amount of competitve swimming, I would go to training sessions before school. I swear I learnt more at school on those days. |

Lungs on Fire When Running @md5sum. Where do you run? I find breathing cold air makes running harder than when indoors on a treadmill breathing room temperature air. |
