@Doc: startingstrength.com/articles/misinflammation_sullivan.pdf A meta-analysis of inflammation vs anti-inflammation research, with a good appendix listing studies on each side of the issue.

@Doc, it's not yet consensus to avoid anti-inflammatories. There are many conflicting studies.

comment Performance standards for curls and other small muscle exercises
I always thought those standards were estimates of when one could expect to need more complicated training cycles (weekly, monthly periodizations instead of just an A/B split). I never saw them as targets to aim for. Isn't the target just "more than before"?

comment Why does consuming 30 g of protein within 30 minutes after waking helps to lose weight?
@K.L. Nutrition is only off topic if it is unrelated to exercise.

comment Building a custom upper body routine
Sorry about all the questions! I don't have a real answer for you, but just have some things I think you should think about or clarify for us... What is the purpose of the push-ups when you're already doing bench? What is the purpose of the inverted rows, when you're already doing bent over rows and pull-ups/chin-ups?

About #2, in what way do you believe this to be unbalanced? The only thing I see is that it leaves out your spinal erectors. Maybe add back extensions? But they use hamstrings, so perhaps you've ruled them out.

Why not put abs on your work days so that your rehab days are real rest days?

comment On a 3x5 program, can I do 4x5 or 5x5 if I'm able to?
I'm not suggesting making larger increases between workouts, so I don't think the reference to "unsustainable increases" applies here. In the case I'm asking about, PRs are still being set every workout (going up by 2.5lbs per workout, for example). I'd be interested to hear why you think not adding additional volume to make sure I'm getting the necessary adaptation is not advised.
