effect of masturbation on gym workout to gain muscle @masonk: thanks for bringing it up. I'll edit the original post to draw attention to the possible inadequacy of these links; readers can then judge for themselves if they have access to the papers. Sadly, I don't have the time to go read these links carefully in the near future. |

Why are kettlebells so expensive? In my opinion it's the "trendy factor" that jontyc mentioned. But I agree 100% with informaficker: this question is very speculative and the subject hasn't been studied rigorously. |

What exercises would make up the minimum, complete, general fitness workout? I just understood why my answer is such a poor fit to the question: the title only mentions strength, but the OP now mentions strength, conditioning and mobility. Perhaps you should change the title accordingly? |

What exercises would make up the minimum, complete, general fitness workout? @VPeric yes, those are the ones I was talking about. The 3rd edition of SS is the same as PP, and they mention that other one taught by Rip at the gym too. |

What exercises would make up the minimum, complete, general fitness workout? @Dave, according to startingstrength.wikia.com there is a 3rd edition of SS which I didn't know about. The 2nd edition has no pull-ups, but the 3rd appears to have them. |

How many sets and reps should I do as a beginner? That's an interesting point. I don't have time to read the ACSM paper thoroughly, and I've read it properly something like 2 years ago. I'll have another look at it. |

How many sets and reps should I do as a beginner? The novice effect exists, no doubt -- but the question is (or at least that's how I interpreted it), what's the best range for a beginner. And there is very strong evidence that it's 8-12; other ranges yield gains as well, though not as much as 8-12. |

What is the best set of dumbbell exercises for a complete upper arm workout? I would add that there is a great arm-building exercise which requires neither barbells nor dumbbells: the chin-up. You can add weight on a belt if you need, but even bodyweight-only will build some pretty decent biceps. |

Wide grip pull-ups vs “normal” pull-ups First of all, +1 for not being scared of reading a paper! Yes, that paper is very close to your question, although (as I mention in my post) they look at the lat pull-down instead of the pull-up, since it is easier to control other experimental variables (electrode placement, etc). Unfortunately I only have access to the abstract, but it is enough to answer your question. |
