comment Tips on having six packs and losing fat and keeping the muscles I have
@DMoore Definitely possible based on how anaerobic the exercise. Sprinter vs marathoner. I'd defer to my answer here for further explanation. However, let's remember that the plural of anecdote is not data. Maybe you just have a predisposition to abnormally large abs.

That said, size of the abs won't increase much unless the rep range is low (6-12) and the resistance is high.

comment Trouble falling asleep after a workout at night
I recommend a low-dose course of melatonin for a week or two (~1-2mg per night, 30 min before bed). It worked for me.

comment Safe weekly amount of crosstraining for over 40 healthy adults
As you know, we can't give medical advice here, so the safety of your routine is something only your medical professional should assess. That said, it looks pretty good to me. At 42 I can't imagine really having to worry about it. As long as you're able to recover between workouts and you aren't feeling over-stressed, get at it! Once it gets too easy, ramp it up. Throw a squat day or two in.

comment Does eating late at night cause weight gain?
Berin, I think your answer relates more to body composition than weight gain. The biological mechanisms may dictate how the glucose gets stored, thereby perhaps causing a higher or lower body fat percentage, but extra weight (mass) will not be created from nothing.
