comment Can I get sugar and electrolytes from natural sources, as opposed to goo, during a race?
While I agree that "You don't want to overdo electrolytes", for those of us running in the heat the opposite concern is more important "you do want to get enough electrolytes", and you lose so much with sweat that expecting to replenish all electrolytes from fruits or vegetable is not realistic. Also I am not with you on "High fiber isn't a big concern" - for many runners it is a huge concern. Many of us runners have to restrict fiber 24 hours before a long run/distance race.

Did it actually measure your percentage of fat, or was it just a guesstimate?

comment Running speed - treadmill vs outdoor
Maybe you are not running straight? If you are zigzagging, no treadmill will notice that, but a device you are carrying might just get it.

Regarding "my heart rate used to get up to around 185 and I didn't experience any of those symptoms" - your resting heart rate does matter. If it is 50, then 185 is very high. If it is 96, then 185 is not that bad.

comment Natural Running - less injuries or not
I started experimenting with barefoot/VFF because of PF. Having done 20 marathons and ultras, I had to slow down for a while. 18 months later, I haven't felt any PF-caused pain for a long time. The price: my speed declined more 1 minute per mile. My shin muscles grew so much that now they are bigger than my biceps. Also I had to strengthen my core, especially the obliques. I have completed a marathon recently, going for an ultra later this year.
