comment How to create a workout plan?
@Kevin: I agree that the stronglifts site might seem a bit shady as of late, but AFAIK all the information you need is there for free. Mehdi does offer personal couching for a fee, but I suspect the "salesman pitches" are more about an enthusiast trying to spread his gospel.

comment Cardio vs. Weight lifting. Which one is better for losing weight?
"The problem with strength training alone is that it burns fewer calories than you would during cardio." -- Sure. But your diet matters a lot more than +/- 1 hour of cardio, that's just a large candy bar.

comment Is Whey protein good for low-carb diet?
+1 for answering the question. I think low carb diets are as sound as anything else, and protein shakes are a great way to supplement your protein intake, both for price and convenience.

+1, for the last paragraph in particular.

Instead of answering your question, I'm just gonna call bullshit on those constraints. If your wife is eager to work out and a sitter is not an option, you could watch the baby 3 times a week while she's busy with SL 5x5. Some independence from the mom can't hurt.

No need to worry about gyno unless the boobs are still there after you've slimmed down to perfect sixpack-abs.

comment What can I do to start gaining weight?
Yup, please do explain. Protein rich food is often recommended for weight loss, as it's supposed to make you feel less hungry. It's also less kcal/g than e.g. fat.

comment What is a good routine for strengthening legs for mountain biking?
@Ivo: I agree that the answer is a bit on the terse side and doesn't really qualify as a routine, which is what the topic asks for. Furlong did narrow the question down to suggestions on exercises, though.

comment Buying barbell / rack
"That combination will allow you to go up in 5 pound increments between the larger 45-pound plates. You may also want to eventually add some 2.5" - For 5 pound increments you'd need 2.5 pound plates, no?

comment How can an ex smoker stop snacking so much?
They might be healthy, but fruit, seeds & nuts contain plenty of calories. Stick to veggies if you can't help yourself. Or start lifting weigths to build some muscle with all that mass you're gaining. ;)

"Most adults can't get their bodyfat levels that low" - of course they can. It'll take a fair bit of dedication, though.

comment Impact of Marijuana on training
> Because of the strict diets, almost nobody who's training is allowed to drink any alcohol. A couple of my friends have turned to marijuana to get that Friday night high. Isn't cannabis very likely to affect your appetite? How do your friends deal with the munchies when they're cutting?

@Jaitsu: I just use a spreadsheet atm, and that's a lot more work than neccessary.

comment As a hardgainer, how do I get the right balance of calories to add size without adding fat?
A bulk/cut cycle certainly is the way to go. However, I think your post could be read as if the poster isn't grossly overeating. Maybe on juice, spending hours in the gym every day, 3.5 lbs per week would make sense. With Jaitsu's workload, I'm sure there's still a lot of fat gain from just 1 lbs per week.

Get a cheap digital food scale and keep a journal on some diet site/app, at least until you get a feel for how much you're eating. Just eat varied/balanced and hit your kcal target, that's your main priority.

comment My wrists and fore-arms hurt, what should I do?
I'm no MD, and your issues might of cause be caused by something other than overtraining. However, I don't think your responses and clarifications are relevant. Recovering from severe overtraining could take weeks or months, not occasional breaks from your daily lifting. If you want to prove me wrong, tell us what your split looks like, or how you mix up your workload to allow for sufficient recovery.
