comment To run faster should you concentrate on raising your thighs or keeping them low
This puzzles me as well. In my previous tri-club, the top two runners (10k in 31-33 min.) had two different running styles. One of them would definitely keep his thighs quite low - which to me just looked "wrong" ^^. I think he had slightly shorter legs than the other and was ~2cm smaller, maybe that plays a role.

comment Does anyone know what causes muscles to shake uncontrolably while under stress?
Great answer, thx! I do Yoga, and I start shaking when I hold certain positions, particularly, if they involve core-tension in my back and stomach. I can hold the positions fairly long, but I just start shaking uncontrollably, and I was wondering what caused that. I'll try to breath more, and identify the balancing muscles to work on them.

comment Worthwhile to cross-train while preparing for half-marathon
I would add to the triathlon sports, cross-country skiing, as this is also an endurance sport, which may particularly be interesting to the OP in the wintery conditions he described. Snow-shoe hiking, and hiking in general also should improve endurance that is of use during running.

comment Do seniors(age 60+) need to be treated differently in training?
Good point with the social part - I'll have to figure something out. My grandparents golfed until a while ago(together with me actually), but then I quit golfing for triathlon, my grandpa had an injury, and within a year they cancelled their club membership. Now for 2 years they haven't been doing much - and it pains me to see them complain about the challenge of basic movements of day-to-da life.
