Should I train all muscles or concentrate on some muscles in each session? Since you are starting out, research strength training programs and see if you like their strength training philosophy. Programs will take the guess-work out of your routine and let you focus on seeing results. I recommend these: NROL and Maximum Strength by Eric Cressey which offer pictures for proper form and nutritional info. |

Push-up Variations @Samuel Andrew - there are in fact variations you can do, see my answer. The triceps and biceps are antagonistic pairs which means when one contracts, the other relaxes and vice versa. So working out one, does work out the other although the "work" may be perceived as minimal. |

Painful grip on deadlift and lat pulldown Oh yeah, my calluses are where the fat pinches on the top of the palms like you mentioned it pinches on you. |

Painful grip on deadlift and lat pulldown They probably have calluses. I have some calluses that still haven't gone away completely and I use gloves 99% of the time. I know guys that workout with their wedding rings without gloves and wonder how the ring doesn't bug them. Also if it's truly "extreme weight", they are probably not lifting for high reps. |

How many calories are burned while doing interval running? I'd just eat healthy and not worry about the calories. Weigh yourself each week and see what you get - tweak as you see fit. If you are an emotional eater, avoid any foods that might trigger you to over indulge. I know a guy is incredibly fit now and he refuses to eat pizza ever b/c it's what got him obese (not fat, but truly obese). Keep logging those miles! |

Opening up my chest and shoulders Great link @wdypdx22. Here's more on the topic by Eric Cressey. In the "Best of 2010" he has a 4-part series on "Correcting Bad Posture". Love that guy. |

Opening up my chest and shoulders I had both arm rests removed in my office chair coz I lean a lot and my elbows actually got sore from it. I also needed them removed to fit my legs under the keyboard tray. It took a while getting used to not having the security there. I kept feeling like I was going to fall off my seat as I sat. But removing the arm rests were definitely great for my posture since I couldn't lean anymore. Perhaps consider getting the arm rests removed? Does your office have an Ergonomics Team? You might want to have them look at your set-up - get some cool new toys ;) |
