comment What is the optimal heart rate in the rest phase of high intensity interval training?
@Jimsan It makes sense, but has anyone ever did any research? Before the HIIT you are supposed to warm up. Then of course before you reach the target rate, your actual HR will be much lower. I am wondering whether I am supposed to calm down to a walk HR, jog HR or ever higher... I've done a lot of HIIT without thinking about it :)

Also just checked, the maximum heart rate I've ever reached during 3 years of running training was 177 bpm. From the profile of the track it was a sprint uphill. That might be very close to 100%.

@JohnP When I do 8x200m intervals, I reach 170bpm. I believe this is 90%. It fits with all the guestimates as well.

Actually this is quite scientific. How do you measure the depth? I added image when I tried to messure it and it really shows a difference.

comment Indoor jump rope as a temporary suplement for long distance running?
It's a compromise. I must do something. The quality of air inside my house is ok, better than in the nearby gym.

+1 Amazing answer. And I would give another +1 for perfect usage of "sugar coating"!

@JohnP I believe for a regular runner that can easily run 10km, 3 months is enough to prepare for a marathon given that nothing goes wrong. That was my plan last time and it worked very well for the time I wanted to achieve (4:30). Of course starting from 0 it would need much more time.
