comment What can I do to limit shin splints?
Why were you prescribed orthotics? Flat feet? What kind of foot strike do you have? Any other overuse our repetitive stress injuries? I'm also interested in the answer to JohnP's question.

comment Do you miss significant nutrients when juicing?
Take a look at the Vitamix line of juicers. I got rid of my centrifugal juicer and got a Vitamix because I was spending a whole bunch of money on fruits and veggies and throwing away the marjority of them in the form of pulp.

comment Weight keeps shifting to balls of my feet during squat
The three cues that help me the most are: 1. Think of sitting in a chair on the way down - this keeps my knees from travelling forward 2. Drive with your heels on the way up 3. Keep your head up (actually neutral or looking slightly up) - keeps me from rounding my back

Also check out Tudor Bompa's “Periodization Training for Sports" amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0736055592/ref=mp_bxgy_p_dp_y You are going to lean towards power lifts but you must have a periodized training plan to prepare you for successful competition.

While I agree with your statement "Isolation movements are fine, but you won't get as much benefit out of them as you would exercises that involve multiple muscle groups." your suggestion doesn't fit into SrixVaria's current plan at all.

You shouldn't have to do that. It sounds like it's time for a new trainer. If you want just a bunch of exercises to do you can just click around on the internet or watch what other people do at the gym. If you want an effective and safe training plan you should find an experienced professional trainer (who will not leave you hanging like this).

comment How does bicycling compare to other exercises when it comes to fat loss?
@Aaron: My point is that at any relatively equivalent intensity, running burns more calories than cycling.

I took a quick look at Snertz and I have to say, holy $#!% that is waaay too much for what you are trying to accomplish. I don't have the time to explain fully at the moment but I will over the next couple days. To start I will say that you will get more fit doing this workout if you don't injure yourself, it is just inefficient. The main problem is that its trying to pack too many things that require high quality work into one training session that should be broken up into multiple sessions. It'll take me some time to reconstruct it, explain then make a recommendation...

@Aaron: The energy you expend doing any activity is going to be dependent on intensity and some environmental factors, so I'm not sure I see your point.

it doesn't really work like that. I'll explain more tonight or tomorrow when I get back to the computer.
