comment Work out 5 times a week, out of breath
Your best bet, if you haven't done so already, is to visit your personal physician. From your description, you are active and should not be out of breath.

I think finding the root cause is going to be tough and require a lot of investigation on your part. Have you given anxiety any thought as a cause?

Can you provide specifics? Less than required for what? Are you otherwise healthy?

By "I want to increase my weight", do you mean add muscle, or, pure body weight? And, is your current weight "normal" for your body size?

comment Submaximal benching: are failed reps always controlled?
@mizo I would not recommend using "safety pins" all the time. As my answer indicated there are appropriate times to use safety equipment. However, using them all the time creates a false sense of security, and, does not allow supporting muscle and tissue to respond to the weight load. They also tend to interfere with range of motion.

comment Relation of physical fitness and age
I would caution that too much high intensity training for an "older" athlete is counter productive because it takes longer to recover between sessions.

comment Put on love handles since picking up internship. Advice?
@JohnKugelman Well, I base it on the experiences I've had for over 20 years as a competitive bodybuilder. And the fact, that tweaking one's diet can make a difference. Regardless, I'm not sure what you base your opinions on. Because, they are that....opinions.
