when to use vibrating platforms I personally don't think it would be helpful that way, I believe it would be intended to perform workouts while on it. Its effect on recovery are probably neglible, but if it makes you feel good, don't let me stop you |

How to prepare yourself before starting to run regularly? The Runners World program or something like Couch25k are definitely a great way to start. Also have a look at this question (fitness.stackexchange.com/a/70/8), which gives some tips for how to run if you're not in great shape |

Is it possible to measure calorie burn from heart rate alone? I think picking the type of exercise is mainly a variable that determines how calories scale with your heart rate. Certain exercises involve more muscles, with different ranges of motions and movement frequencies and thus work your muscles differently. So as soon as you tell the app you're doing a type of exercise, it'll have to assume that's what you're doing. I can't reliably determine whether you're actually doing it. So yes, they use your heart rate, but in a pretty naive way |

What is the best iOS App for tracking Starting Strength progress? Could you tell us some more about the app, because currently the answer doesn't really tell us why we should be using it |

Caloric benefit to working out in hotter temperatures? I think you misunderstood the intention. If you're in a hot room, your body is less able to cool you, so you can't exert yourself even further. So working out in a cooler environment would allow you to push yourself further. Being in a hot environment would likely only make you sweat more, but not necessarily burn more calories |

Caloric benefit to working out in hotter temperatures? I don't think external heat is going to help your body burn more calories. Instead work out at a pleasant temperature and push yourself harder without overheating, which you would in a high temperature environment |

Training for 1.5 mile run Could you edit your question and add what program you're following right now? Then we can get an idea what, if anything, you're doing that's preventing you from progressing |

Intermittent fasting Hi @Ross, questions about nutrition only are off-topic, they need to be somehow related to your exercise regime. If you can add any relevant context, I'm happy to reopen the question for you |

Working Out in the Morning vs. Evening Hi @mcdonasm, nice answer! Given you mention you're summarising research, would you happen to have any links to include in your answer? |

Running: When I toe-off my feet splay outwards FYI The university of Ghent investigated the relationship between out-toeing and exercise related leg injuries and found no significant relationship. So if its a problem for you, then its likely something else is the real cause |

How do I promote connective tissue health/strength? The stretching exercises mentioned in the first link are meant to be done as separate stretching exercises, not as a warming up. I would perform these stretches as a separate workout and not do extensive stretching before other exercises, as I explained here. |
