comment Maintenance of the Flexor Hallucis Longus muscle for Long-distance Running?
What do you mean with 'maintain'? Your body isn't exactly a machine you can grease right on the spot where its a bit stiff. Also, why are you singling out a single muscle? What often happens is that the weakest link gives you problems. If you focus solely on your weakest link, guess who's going to give you trouble next? The second weakest link, so I'd suggest a more holistic approach.

comment How can I fit 7 weeks of C25K training into two weeks?
Simple: you cannot. But that doesn't mean training won't benefit you. Worst case: don't go all out during the race and you should be fine.

comment Barefoot running vs any footwear
I must have misread, though the formulation is rather unclear. But definitely no, while its possible to run in almost anything, I wouldn't recommend it. Especially if they make you run asymmetrically or hinder you, you risk getting injured

@DMoore I think that if you edited your comments into your answer, that should go a long way for providing references

comment RunKeeper fails to pick up my heart rate
@JensSchauder I've had problems with this model in the past as well, trying to troubleshoot it is a nightmare, because you're basically shooting in the dark. The Polar Wearlink gives no feedback in whatever mode it is in and even if its pared with your phone, Runkeeper offers no feedback as to whether it actually picked it up (unlike an app like Sportstracker). So its an overall subpar experience

comment Running shoes: are EVA soles that bad?
You can get that kind of protection from much thinner soles. I think that most shoes won't prevent ankle sprains, so unless your ankle is really unstable, you'd be better off doing more stability or strength training.

comment Running shoes: are EVA soles that bad?
While the shoe may be expensive, that doesn't mean the material its made out of is expensive as well. There are other foams that have much better characteristics, but they might be bad for the environment (in such volumes) or simply be more expensive

comment Running shoes: are EVA soles that bad?
Minimal running shoes aren't 'too soft' they are often made of the same material, simply less of it. What's more problematic is the shoe manufacturers picking EVA probably because its cheapest way to make a decent sole. They could make better soles if they wanted to.

comment Shoes for a very heavy man?
Honestly, there are hardly any shoes that tailor to supination, so in this specific case I don't think it will help the OP much. If the problem of excessive wearing occurs even with the toughest or most supportive shoe, the OP will either need orthotics or custom shoes or (dramatically) alter his running style. I put my 2 cents on the latter.

comment Shoes for a very heavy man?
More an observation, but if the shoes wear out that quickly, perhaps minimal footwear would be a better alternative, because they don't try to (futilely) correct possibly abnormal movements. Unless you experience pain or problems when walking barefooted, I don't expect a lot of problems.
