The law of biological accommodation says

"the response of a biological object to a given constant stimulus decreases over time. Thus, accommodation is the decrease in response of your body to a constant continued stimulus"

Alexander Leonidas suggests that to avoid plateaus from lack of response to stimulus one can use their ability to switch exercises which can be done in two different ways.

  1. Switching the variation of the exercise like going from an explosive squat where the stretch reflex is used to a pause squat or by switching the amount of reps continuously. So instead of doing 3 sets of 3 every time one should also switch to 3 sets of 10 one day of the week.

  2. By completely changing the exercise like doing squats on monday and deadlifts on friday

He suggests that by switching exercise variations or entire exercise continuously plateaus can be completely avoided.
