To what extent is strength an inevitable byproduct of hypertrophy vs. the converse?

I don’t know how one would measure to compare units, but let’s say that strength is what one is training for, and they improve it by 50%. In the course of this, is some relative percentage to this 50% also inevitable as a gain in hypertrophy?

And in the other direction, if one is training for hypertrophy, and makes 50% improvements (although not quite sure how this would be measured… body composition a& weight? Muscle diameters?), is a certain degree of strength improvement also guaranteed?

Perhaps most importantly, is one direction of this relationship stronger than its converse?

Which type of training gives the most well rounded all around benefits?
