is Is it bad to workout when you aren't sleeping a lot?

I am a dad and we just had a newborn so I am not getting much sleep these days. I want to avoid getting out of shape and gaining weight as it easy to be lazy and slack off on health (eating, exercise) when you are very tired.

Given that the lack of sleep probably won't change for a while, iI wanted to see if there were any issues with going to the gym and doing either cardio and / or weights.

Its obviously not ideal to workout without a good night of rest, but given no other choice is there any real downside or concern iI should have here?
