What heart rate can a beginner runner expect?
My advice is to ignore the 'zones'.
If it doesn't FEEL like max effort, then its clearly not max effort.

Is there a definitive way to calculate a target heart rate for a cardiovascular workout?
Don't rely so much on the 'target' heart rate zones.
